After the sheet of Lucite acrylic is heated and vacuumed formed into the shape of the whirlpool bath, fiberglass is applied to the back side of acrylic sheet, providing rigidity and strength. Normal fiberglass resin creates heat when it cures. That heat deteriorates the bond between the acrylic sheet, and the fiberglass.
